Last Minute Bookish Christmas Presents

One good thing about being a book nerd (or knowing a book nerd) is that you can easily get Christmas presents at the last minute and actually find decent stuff. Thankfully, despite the boom of online shopping, bookstores remain open and even larger brick-and-mortar retailers like Target have aisles of bookish delights. Here are a few last minute bookish Christmas presents for the reader in your life.
I will post all of the items mentioned in this post at the bottom!
A Book Light ?
I actually still use a book light. I love them. They’re small, convenient, light, and they help my husband get sleep when I decide to stay up all night finishing whatever I’m reading. I also really enjoyed them while I was breastfeeding in the middle of the night and wanted something to do while my babies fed.
Annotating Accessories ??
If you’ve been following my Tik Tok, you know that I am obsessed with annotating everything. It’s just my reading style. I love to annotate in the books I am reading, but I do use more tools than just a pencil and highlighter. In fact, certain books actually require certain annotating equipment. (You never thought it would be this technical, did you?)
For instance, Bibles are typically printed on scritta paper, which is a thinner paper. If you use regular highlights on Bible pages, you can ruin the pages and the colors could bleed through. There are special highlighters made to use with Bibles.
I also like to stock up on generic Post-It notes and tabs. These are especially great for those who do not like writing in the actual books but still want to annotate.
Cool Bookends
If the reader in your life is a physical-book kind of person, they undoubtedly have a killer book display either on a shelf, in a bookcase, on a desk, etc. I think unique objects to decorate with are always a thoughtful gift. Cool bookends can be found anywhere from Target to Anthropologie, or even Barnes & Noble and Home Goods.
Daniel ate bacon. (My son asked me to write this here. Can you tell it’s Christmas break?)
Unique Bookish Oddities ?
I found this really cool personal library set at World Market that included a book stamp, return date slips, and even ink. (I said this at the top of the post, but everything mentioned will be linked below!) I love unique bookish oddities like this set. I also found cute book dish sponges at World Market, also.
Books (or Gift Cards for Books) ?
Let’s get straight to the point with this one.
Books are expensive. Books are a luxury. It might seem silly to call them a “luxury” but the reality is that one book can cost anywhere from $5 to $50 depending on the edition. (And some books are even more expensive than that.)
If you know a book that the reader in your life wants to dive into, just buying them the book is a great gift. My husband is getting me the Crescent City series for Christmas this year because he knows the series is on my TBR list. If you don’t know what books to buy, a gift card is never a wrong choice. Show me a reader who wouldn’t love an excuse to leave the house and go on a book haul to Barnes & Noble and I’ll show you a LIAR!
